Week's Worth Of Work

This has been quite a week!  Sorry I have not been blogging...but I have been working.  Hard.

May/June 2013 is significant for me.  This marks the end of my term(s) on a couple of different boards, on which I have served.  I am sad to be leaving all my friends as they continue their work on behalf of these fine groups....but I am happy to have the opportunity to explore new areas of interest, too.

One of my jobs requires a lot....a TREMENDOUS......amount of paper work to be redone before transitioning to the new board member.  So, that is what this week has been...and will continue to be.

I will see you next week for more Classic Preppy fun....

In the meantime, if you want to take a look at my favorite volunteer job, you can check out my guest blogging/social media work on the Facebook page of the Delray Beach Preservation Trust.  Delray Beach is my hometown, and I love what this group is doing!  I've been posting a lot of great historic photos and our readership has grown by leaps and bounds.  Please feel free to click over and "Like" the page.

See you soon....

Friday Find: Fascinating!

Are you following Frances Schultz and Carolyne Roehm on their fabulous Italian holiday adventure?  I am....and am completely enthralled.  How I wish I could paint/sketch/draw/do anything that remotely resembles an artistic endeavor.

Check it out for yourself!

Wistful Wednesday

We've had a death in our family.  I hadn't seen my uncle in an awfully long time, but keep in close touch with his son and his family.  I am off to see my cousin tomorrow and will try to post again on Friday.  In the meantime, here is my Aunt Frances and Uncle George's wedding photo.  Weren't they an elegant couple?

I wore my Aunt Frances' wedding dress when I was married, 28 years later....

Manic Monday

Last night's return from Hartford was quite an experience.  More on that later...including a scathing review of US Air's employees in Philadelphia. (I didn't get home until 5am....We had a five hour drive home from Philly!)

In the meantime...laughter is a very healing thing...and nothing makes me laugh louder than an episode of I Love Lucy.  Here is a very unusual video that incorporates home movie video shot in color, while the show was being filmed.  I love the colors in Ricky Ricardo's nightclub set!!  Enjoy....

The Adventure Continues

Going up the coast to Hartford and Farmington this weekend.  Can't wait....Have always wanted to visit there, but haven't had the chance until now.

One of the places I am most excited to see is the historic Mark Twain House.  I have loved it since I first saw it in one of my many coffee table books on fabulous houses!  Have you ever visited this unusual house?  I will report back after my visit!!

Hartford and Farmington, here I come....

Friday Fun: Lunch With Dear Friends

I am SO EXCITED!  It's going to be a big weekend around here.  Older Daughter will be graduated from college on Saturday (on to grad school!),  we are having dinner with some precious friends tonight (an unexpected treat) AND I am having lunch today with three of my favorite of whom I only get to see a couple of times a year.

I bet you know my friend...or know her work....and if you don't, you should!  Her name is Sally Lloyd-Jones, and she is the absolutely amazing author of a number of best-selling children's books, the most famous of which is The Jesus Storybook Bible.  I love spending time with Sally and our dear friends, Mark and Yolie.  The conversation runs the gamut and the hours we spend together seem like only seconds.

Sally's newest book, Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing, is terrific!  Here is a brief interview with Sally about Thoughts:

and a video about the book:

Thursday Thoughts: I'm Back!

So sorry to be gone so long! I'm back now, and still obsessing over decorating and gracious living.....and all the books by all the brilliant people who are experts in this area.

First, you must read this magnificent article!  It really spoke to me...and I have most of the books mentioned as "must haves."

Picking up again with Elsie DeWolfe, you really should have her books in your library! I highly recommend both of these....and will highlight them in my Amazon store this week!
