Wonderful Wednesday and the Amazing Structures on the 2010 Most Endangered List

Historic Preservation is my passion....and I am involved in many efforts here in Virginia, out in Colorado, and in my "home town," Delray Beach, Florida. A lot of exciting things are happening...but many projects are teetering on the edge, too. What's happening in your hometown? Find out and see how you can help!

Here's what's happening in the state of Florida....and four of them are very significant to me: the Bonnet House, the Royal Poinciana Playhouse, Miami Marine Stadium and the old Boynton Beach High School. Congrats to the Florida Trust on their awesome new website (www.floridatrust.org). Check out this video from their YouTube channel, too!

  1. I am so lucky to live in an historic district and have been involved in our local landmarks and preservation group for years. I've mainly participated on the fundraising side (this year hosting a fall event and always work on our pilgrimage the first weekend of December) but others in our group are actively working to put at risk properties with owners who will rescue them...most recent a house that is said to be Margaret Mitchell's inspiration for Twelve Oaks. Local lore says she brought the Hollywood folks up here to see it!
